[picking them up, she knows that later she'll try to put them outside the little house, and see if she can wear one. but the time it'll take for her to fiddle with it all will cut into the short time she has with him right now - so she'll keep them safe.]

Are you doing okay? We received a weird message this week from someone who wasn't the Captain.

We found some things out a few days ago - but who was contacting you, if not the captain?

[someone who wasn't the admiral? it couldn't be Alice, because he would have said...who else could be talking to them?]

It was actually three people, it was a transmission. Their name started with an "N", but it was hard to make out what they were saying. We couldn't respond, but they wanted us to.

They might be trying to help you, if they want you to respond. They want to know you've heard them.

[and then, quickly, she's trying to type quickly and get the information out.]

We found the captain. She died a time back, so all we found were her bones. And we found some information that says the people here were able to look at our worlds - photos and notes.

From what I could understand, it sounded like they wanted our help, it was weird. They said " send over...there's another" before the connection dropped.

Mmmn, I'm not surprised. She told us she was probably dead even though she tried to survive as long as she could against the aliens.

[ The next sentence comes later than the rest, though thankfully he's a lot faster at typing now so it doesn't shorten their time too much.]

I...really want to go home.

Maybe if we find the truth, if we end this project, you can.

[and as she writes it, she knows she's so selfish in thinking that she prays they can't go back. or at least, that there's a choice.]

I think I'd stay, if it were possible.

I need to or- if I actually do die trying, that's okay too. [ What he wanted to express was hard enough to explain in person, let alone in text. It's been what he's spent the majority of the time working out in the graveyard, and it's not been an easy journey. And as far as he's concerned he's not actually dead yet.]

Maybe those people can help, like you said. They'll probably contact us again, I think.

Be ready to respond to them if they do. Or see if there's some way to trace where they came from. If the message can get in, there has to be a way to get one out.
