☾ IC INFO ☽
Name: Kazuma Kval
Canon: Blazblue
Age: Mentally and physically appears to be late teens (17ish), but he's chronically 8 due to the fact that he's an artificial human.

Canon Description: The universe of Blazblue is about time travel, repeating cycles, eternal recurrence, and trying to escape from a number of predetermined fates. While humans make up the majority of the sentient species in Blazblue, there are also beastkin (half animal), and cyborgs. Technology is also fairly advanced, and while magic isn't necessarily commonplace, there are some who can wield it. Every set number of years humanity and the world is at the risk of being eradicated by the Black Beast, a monster that destroys everything in it's path. However the Master Unit ("God") resets the cycle every time destruction is imminent, as well as restricting all outcomes to the one it recognizes.

Yuuki Terumi along with a few others, has observed countless numbers of these cycles and he aims to break it: by destroying everything and everyone (including the Master Unit). Terumi no longer has a physical body however, and as such requires vessels in order to truly interact with the physical world. Kazuma is created as one of these vessels, with the goal of eventually merging with Terumi.

Note:The plot to the first game can be found here. However, Kazuma is from the light novels which takes place around 100 years before these events (due to time meddling shenanigans, time continuity is a very unstable thing with people from the past meddling with the present and vice versa).

Personality: For the first seven years of his life, Kazuma Kval went through them existing...but not doing much else. The amnesia he suffered from, which prevented him from recalling his years prior to the mage academy, defined his life and personality. He was the type of person who was quiet, with not that much of a presence, who would return greetings and kindness because it was the right thing to do. Similarly his grades were just OK, he tried, but he never really had the heart to dedicate himself to his studies. He liked to read and wasn't one for standing in the limelight, though it wasn't because he was shy but because he was modest. Friends weren't really something he had either (aside from Trinity Glassfille), though it's not like he avoided people or was a social recluse. Whenever he didn't know how to deal with a situation he just gave a smile, even if true happiness wasn't something he really felt. He just existed, and that was that. Whenever he wondered about who he really was (was he someone important?) it brought him conflict-- he wanted to know because he was enviousness, yet he felt that he wasn't really deserving of knowing all the same. On the surface, Kazuma still largely appears to be this person.

But Kazuma met Yuuki Terumi. Terumi was a man, in truth a "spirit" who no one else could see, who offered Kazuma everything (in the form of the Azure Grimoire) he ever wanted: the truth. The offer came at a time when Kazuma was being attacked on all fronts: mentally by Nine who disliked him from the start, and physically by the beastkin who wanted him dead. He didn't understand any of it, yet Terumi was offering him just that: a means to understand everything from the past to the present. The offer ultimately proved too tempting, and slowly Kazuma began to trust Terumi and his words more and more. The truth of it was that Terumi was overlaying his feelings on Kazuma's, which was ironically the real reason behind Kazuma's existence: to become one with Terumi. Terumi's words made it possible for Kazuma to see the world in more than shades of grey, it afforded him a purpose, clarity and determination. Most notably, it warped his modesty into selfishness: as he came to see himself as the only person who mattered in the end. He also developed a bit of paranoia, and came to believe that those who trusted others with naive. Even Trinity, the only person he considered a friend, he drew away from internally, as he decided he couldn't (and shouldn't) trust her.

Nothing would hinder him anymore.
Nothing would refuse him anymore.
Nothing would shun him anymore.

The corruption Terumi spread blossomed in his heart, awakening nascent thoughts such as malevolence and cruelty-- thoughts that were planted in Kazuma since his creation (as he must be in some ways, complimentary to Terumi). Kazuma is still however his own person, with the same polite speech and disposition that he's always had. In his heart however, he's started to become the type of person who laughs (uncontrollably so even) at the pain and sorrow of others, though it's masked by his trademark smiles and unassuming presence. His sense of determination too has given way to a propensity to plot and scheme, in order to get what he needs to succeed. An astute observer might notice the truth— that his smiles often hide a deeper meaning, and that sometimes he seemingly speaks uncharacteristically harsh and with a bite of sarcasm. But even if someone were to notice, it would matter little to Kazuma, as he would deny such a thing until later laughing about it in private.

Note: Though Terumi won't be present with him in Cradle project, the damage is already done to his way of thinking and outlook on things. It does prevent him from progressing further with the merge however, as he's not quite as horribly sadistic as Terumi (who could never keep up a positive act for more than a few minutes).

Abilities: Kazuma is a student of the mage academy, Ishana. Unfortunately magic is very loosely defined in Blazblue, and Kazuma is admittedly an average student. He does display some specific spells however: a type of "force" spell which repels people from him, wind magic and the ability to create a magical barrier to guard against attacks. Besides these abilities, it's reasonable to think he could probably do basic spells such as creating a small flame, lighting an area, basic ice spells, minor levitation and conjuring forth a small bolt of lightning. Ultimately however, Kazuma's body has a high propensity for magic in and of itself (because Terumi is one of the most powerful mages.) While Kazuma doesn't really know how to harness this power exactly, it does make him capable of breaking magic locks and barriers with ease due to his body overloading them.

As an artificial human Kazuma also possesses heightened agility/evasion, as well as an increased healing factor. Minor wounds will be healed in several minutes, and even great wounds (if they're not fatal) will be healed overnight. This is due to the fact that Kazuma is a living Azure Grimoire, and is made up completely of seithr. Essentially this means that he's made up of a different type of energy/particle than most humans (though humans can supposedly be degraded into seithr).

Kazuma also possess a latent prowess with daggers and knives, due to Termumi's proficiency with them.

Suitability: Kazuma is an artificially created human, created to be a vessel for Yuuki Terumi (a physical body for him to act in). Despite this, he's not discernible from typical humans on the surface or in social interactions, and even he doesn't know that he was artificially created until later in canon. For all intents and purposes he is essentially human with a few extra abilities, in addition to being tuned to Terumi's mind. He has his own personality and free will— a fact which is immensely important, as Kazuma and Terumi can't fuse unless Kazuma "accepts" him.

It should be noted that while his chronological age is 8, his mental and body age would be around 17 years of age for a typical human.

Alignment: Neutral Evil: Simply put, Kazuma is quite selfish. Once he has a grasp of direction in his life he starts to push everyone away, not really caring about their feelings as he only cares about himself (though he does keep fronting that he cares). Moreover the more he starts to accept this direction/identity, the more he embraces acting with a malicious intent, such as when he knocks Trinity unconscious into a stone wall— something which could have injured her gravely or even killed her, despite the fact that she was his only friend. He also finds other peoples struggles and hardships amusing, though he's still not really sure why he does, only that it lets him experience true joy.

Motivations: First and foremost, Kazuma wants to embrace his purpose (fate), and subsequently "recover everything". Put simply, he would do anything for the Azure Grimoire, having been told it's the key to recovering his memories and everything else he lost. Subsequently, his new direction and meaning in life is extremely important to him, so much so that he doesn't let anyone shake him from it, regardless of how close they are to him. Specific reasons to kill are as follows:

1.) For the Azure Grimoire; no hesitation or regrets, regardless of who it is.

2.) To protect himself, his plan, and to remove any obstacles in his way.

3.) Amusement. Though Kazuma isn't really aware of why he finds the suffering of others so enjoyable, sadism has begun to take hold in his heart.

4.) If Terumi suggested such an act.

Are you willing to have a third party role?: Yes! Kazuma would actually be quite suited to play/act certain roles if it stood to benefit him— he acts for years in later canon to escape the imprisonment Nine set on him for example.
